The Burundian authorities advise you to obtain a visa before travel if you are planning on staying for three days or longer. If you plan to stay for less than three days, you can obtain a transit visa on arrival at a cost of US $40. A one-month multiple entry/re-entry visa is available at the airport in Bujumbura currently at a cost of US $90.

Take US dollars dated post-2006. Most outlets and individuals will not accept or exchange older currency. Euros may also be exchanged. Credit and debit cards are rarely accepted.
